This is Vacation Bible Celebration week! Our sister congregation, Faith Lutheran is hosting this year and they are doing great. This year there are more adults than children and the dynamic of that is interesting. What I see when I look around the worship space is families sitting together with youngsters in arms, singing songs together. The together part is what makes this heart glow. There are so many events that separate children from their parents that it is refreshing when our churches sing Christ and his salvation with everyone together. Feel free to come into Faith Lutheran at 5 and eat with us and check out the programming!
Remember! Worship times this Sunday will be changed a bit:
8:00 am here at Good Shepherd 9:00 am at Faith Lutheran (We will worship together to honor Vacation Bible Celebration)
10:00 there will be a pot luck at Faith. The ham for sandwiches is provided but if you are able and willing please bring a dish or dessert to share.
Wednesday worship tomorrow at 7:00 PM
We are gathered to worship Jesus around the Letter to the Romans. The text for tomorrow is Romans 8:1-11. This is the most beautiful chapter of the letter and these verses set up the big promises of life and everlasting joy. I hope you can come so these beautiful words of joy might ring forth in your hearts for a time. We will have more readings from this chapter in the weeks to come. Maybe you could sit down with your Bible and read the chapter to see where this is all going?
We will worship Christ using a parable: Matt. 13:24-30, 36-43. This is what we call the ‘parable of the weeds’. God plants good seeds for wheat, and the evil one sneaks in and plants weeds. God tells his harvesters to let them all grow up together and separate them at the end. I will be giving the sermons at both Good Shepherd at 8 and at Faith at 9. I hope you come and worship with us!
July: The pass around offering will go to: S.O.S. Back to School Clothing Drive. (Families are registered, then clothes will be available in August.
